New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust filed a PIL in Delhi HC against private schools which have allegedly been overcharging fees and also refusing to conduct online classes for students who fail to pay during the pandemic, reported The Indian Express.
The PIL hearing, which sought action by AAP government against the private schools in question, has been posted for hearing on December 9 by the bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan due to lack of time.
The Trust, represented by advocate Ashok Kumar Singh, cited news reports which revealed many schools were overcharging students and withholding access to online classes to those students unable to pay. Singh contended these actions to be in violations of Delhi government’s directives to schools regarding tuition fees.
It also stated that 76 private schools were in violation of the Delhi government’s orders, according to Delhi Parents Association.
