PM Modi Hails Role Of University Of Mysore During Centenary Convocation Address
Mysuru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hailed the University of Mysore as a centre upholding traditions of the great education system of ancient India, with ambitions and potential of future India,
Addressing the university’s Centenary Convocation through video conference, Modi said it had fulfilled the vision of ‘Rajarshi’ Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and M. Visvesvaraya.
Quoting great Kannada writer and thinker Goruru Ramaswamy Iyengar’s thought that “education throws light at difficult times in life,” the Prime Minister urged students to apply knowledge they obtain through education in facing challenges of real life.
Expressing happiness at the higher enrolment ratio of girls, Modi said that reforms had been brought in to ensure gender equality and social inclusiveness, as also granting autonomy to institutions to take decisions as per need.
Regarding the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he said that since skilling, reskilling and upskilling are important, the NEP’s multi-dimensional focus is to make the youth more competitive and give new incentives by making fundamental changes to the education sector.
Hailing the excellence of the University of Mysore, Modi urged the institute to innovate and focus on incubation centres, technology development centres, industry-academia linkage and inter-disciplinary research.
Requesting for promotion of research on local culture and art, he encouraged students to achieve their dreams by working on individual strengths.
