Prof Mihir Mishra Appointed Member Of OPSC; OSSC Gets Three Members

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has appointed Prof. Mihir Prasad Mishra, principal of SCS (Autonomous) College, Puri, as a member of Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and three others as members of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC).

With the appointment of Mishra, OPSC will have three members. However, two more members popsts are still vacant. The OPSC is a six-member body including chairman.

Retired IPS officer Arun Sarangi is the current chairman and the two other members are Sarita Supakar and Shyama Bhakta Mishra.

“Prof. Mishra will have a term of six years from the date he joins office or until he attains the age of 62 years, whichever is earlier,” said a notification issued by the General Administration department.

Meanwhile, Director, Census Operations, Udaya Narayan Das, retired IAS officer Sudhakar Burgi and former professor in Department of English of Berhampur University Shruti Das have been appointed as members of the Odisha Staff Selection Commission.

The term of Udaya Das will be for six years or until he attains the age of 62 years, while the tenure of Burgi and Shruti Das will be five years.

With the appointment of the three members, the OSSC has attained full strength. Former DGP Abhay is the chairman of the commission.

While OPSC conducts recruitment tests for civil service posts in Group A and selected Group B services, OSSC is the recruitment agency for various positions in the state government departments and heads of departments which includes Group B and Group C non-technical posts.
