Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Saturday announced that the students of grade I to VIII will be promoted to the next class without the annual examination this year.
Talking to the media, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said no physical classes will be held for students of Class I to VIII till April in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state.
The students of these classes will be promoted to the next class like the previous year, he said.
It is a tentative decision that is yet to get the official stamp, he added.
Asked whether the schools will be opened after April, the minister said it will be not possible to resume classes till the end of May, considering the rising day temperature.
“The physical classes of the Class IX students are underway and they will appear for the final examination in offline mode,” he informed.
