Punjab: Parents Protest SCERT Decision To Hold Mid-Term Exams Offline

Faridkot: The mid-term exams for all classes are to be conducted from December 7 to 24, according to directives issued to district education officers (DEO) by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), reported The Tribune.

Online exams will be held for students of classes I to VIII, while exams for students of classes IX to XII will be conducted in schools.

According to sources, this move is an effort to improve the low attendance in schools post reopening, due to parents’ preference for online mode of education, and to prepare students for the final exams to be held in March.

While parents objected to the move as being a contradiction to the state government’s earlier directives to prevent the spread of the virus, teachers voiced concern over online exams for junior classes, stating that most government school students don’t have smartphones.
