Registration For Admission To IISER To Begin On March 5

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) has released an information brochure for the entrance examination, IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025.

According to the brochure, the registration for the entrance examination will start on March 5 and conclude on April 15. The examination will be held on May 25.

The IISER entrance exam is being conducted for students who want to be admitted to the BS-MS dual degree programme for science students and a four-year BS degree programme for engineering sciences and economic sciences (offered only at IISER Bhopal).

Eligibility criteria

Candidates must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination with science stream from any board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India.

Foreign Nationals need to upload an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities unless they have passed the Class XII or equivalent level examination from any board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India.

Candidates should have been born on or after October 01, 2000.

Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e, these candidates should have been born on or after October 01, 1995.

Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent exams in the science stream with a minimum of 60% marks (general candidates) can apply for IAT 2025.

For candidates belonging to scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled Tribe (ST) and Person With Disabilities (PwD) the minimum score requirement is 55% to apply for IAT 2025.

Each of these pathways necessitates a unique application form.

IISER Aptitude Test (IAT)

IAT will comprises 60 questions, 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

The total time for answering the test will be 180 minutes. Questions will be of multiple-choice type with only one correct answer.

Marking scheme

Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks.

Each incorrect answer will lead to the deduction of 1 mark.

Unanswered questions will be awarded a 0 mark.

The maximum mark will be 240.

Application fee

The application portal shall open on March 05, 2025.

Rs. 2,000 for candidates applying under General, EWS, OBC, and OBC-NCL categories.

Rs. 1,000 for candidates applying under persons with disabilities (PwD), persons registered as Kashmiri Migrants/Kashmiri Pandits/Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrant) and SC/ST category.

Rs. 12,000/- for candidates applying under Foreign National category.
