Reopening Of Schools: Meghalaya Government To Decide After November 5

Shillong: Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has said that the government will decide after November 5 about the reopening of schools in the state, PTI reported. A meeting in this regard will take place between the state’s education department and the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) on November 5.

“Whether selection test will be there and if not, what steps will be taken all these instructions will be given after this meeting. The decision on resuming normal class activities and other issues will be known only after November 5,” the minister said, the report added.

The state’s schools and other educational institutions have been closed due to the pandemic. However, students of Class VI and above have been allowed to visit schools to consult their teachers provided the safety protocols are strictly followed.

The government will take into account the views of the stakeholders which include management committees, parents, teachers, and consultations with them were in progress.

Asked about selection tests for Class X students, Rymbui said, following the November 5 meeting, matters related to the issue will be discussed and a decision will be taken.
