Samsung India Grants Scholarships To 517 IIT, NIT Students
New Delhi: Samsung India has granted 517 students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and National Institute of Technology (NIT) scholarships as part of its ‘Samsung Star Scholar program’.
The Samsung Star Scholar program offers a scholarship of around Rs 2 lakh for various expenses like tuition fees, examination, hostel and mess for one academic year. However, the scholarship can be renewed every year up to 5 years.
The Samsung Star Scholar program was launched in 2016 and it has benefitted 650 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) students so far.
Peter Rhee, Corporate Vice President and Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India, told India TV, “Samsung Star Scholar program is an extension of this effort and we are very pleased that this year despite the challenges on the ground, we have been able to reach out to these gifted students.”
Samsung India offers scholarships to meritorious students pursuing full-term B.Tech/Dual Degree (B.Tech and M.Tech) courses at any IIT or National Institutes of Technology (NIT) under this program.
Under this program, the company has distributed 150 scholarships to new applicants from JNVs, out of which 85 will start their education across 14 different IITs and 65 at 15 different NITs in India.
As per the Samsung India, the scholarship of 367 students pursuing a full-term B.Tech/Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) has already been renewed for the next year.
So far, over 430,000 students have benefitted from it and over 8,000 teachers have been trained on how to use interactive technology to teach.
