Schools Reopen In Two Maharashtra Districts; Read How They Follow Social Distancing
Mumbai: Two districts — Chandrapur and Gadchiroli — in Maharashtra have reopened schools from July 6 for class IX and XII students, according to a report by the The Indian Express.
IN Karmavir Vidhyalaya, Chandrapur, has been conducting classes for only IX and X only. In order to adhere to social distancing norm, the strength of a class has been divided into two batches and only one student is allowed to sit per bench. Five periods or classes run back-to-back without any break and any student who wishes to have lunch is allowed to, though all alone.
The school hasn’t made attendance compulsory. However, more than 80 per cent of the students have returned to the school. No parent is allowed in the school premises.
However, the decision to reopen schools contradicts with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ order to not reopen schools till July 31. On June 15, the Maharashtra’s school education department had released guidelines for reopening schools physically for students. The administration had allowed schools to reopen physically in the districts which had no coronavirus cases for a month.
