New Delhi: Following months of closure, children are set to return to schools tomorrow in several states.
With COVID cases declining, states have decided to reopen schools for physical teaching-learning activities, particularly for higher classes.
The states, however, introduced several measures like staggered timings, physical distancing, consent from parents are among others to ensure the health and safety of students, teachers and other staff.
Below are the state-wise school reopening updates:
Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu will reopen schools on Wednesday for Classes IX to XII with 50 per cent attendance. The SOP has been issued by the government for reopening schools. Schools will function six days a week and classes and sections will be split into batches of a maximum of 20 students in one room.
Delhi
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has announced measures like thermal screening, staggered lunch breaks, the alternate seating arrangements in classrooms for reopening of schools and colleges for Classes IX to XII on Wednesday.
Rajasthan
The Rajasthan government will reopen schools on Wednesday for Classes IX to XII. The universities, colleges and coaching institutes will also reopen.
According to government guidelines, classes will be held in sessions and 50 per cent of students will be allowed in the classes in each session.
Uttar Pradesh
After having already reopened schools for students of Classes IX to XII, UP will reopen schools for Classes I to V on Wednesday.
“The order has been issued to open schools for students of classes 6-8 from September 23 and for classes 1-5 from September 1,” a senior government official was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh government will also reopen schools for classes VI to XII on Wednesday. Earlier, the state government had reopened schools for students of classes IX to XII.
However, it is mandatory for students to get consent from their parents before attending school. School management and parents will need to ensure compliance with COVID protocols.
