Shashi Tharoor Terms Kerala University’s Decision To Hold Exams From June 15 ‘Irresponsible’

New Delhi: Kerala University’s scheduling sixth-semester exams in offline mode amid Covid surge couldn’t please Congress Parliamentarian Shashi Tharoor. The MP has termed the decision “irresponsible” and requested the Kerala government to either put it on hold or conduct it online.

Kerala University will conduct the sixth-semester exams from June 15.

The Thiruvananthapuram MP said holding the Kerala University 6th semester exams in physical mode will put the students’ lives in danger.

“It’s irresponsible that the Kerala University S6 exams are scheduled from 15th June. Pushing students into circumstances that may endanger many lives is an injustice,” Tharoor said via a social media post.

“I urge CMO Kerala and Kerala Governor to put all exams in the state on hold or conduct online tests, if unavoidable,” Tharoor added.

When informed of a similar exam schedule of Mahatma Gandhi University, he said: “We cannot expect students to perform when they too are facing the impact of the pandemic and stress on their mental well-being, let alone the significant health risks involved. Urge MG University to reconsider!”
