Sleep, Express And Meditate: Deepika Padukone Gives Success Mantra To Students During ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’

Marks are not everything and patience is very important when it comes to exam preparation and results, she says

New Delhi: Scoring marks in the examinations are not everything and keeping patience is the key when it comes to exam preparation and results, actor Deepika Padukone advised the students in the second episode of the eighth edition of Pariksha Pe Charcha, which was aired on February 12.

Sleep well, hydrate, exercise, meditate and express yourself. These are the keys while dealing with the stress that comes with examinations, she said.

She said that it was natural to feel stressed during the examinations. However, it is vital to know how to handle it. Admitting that she was weak in mathematics during her student days, Padukone said that she was very lucky to have parents who did not focus much on her getting good marks in the examinations.

“Friends and a community help deal with anxiety. Parents have to understand that a child’s interest may lie in something else, and that is ok,” she said.

Padukone participated in an interactive session too and conducted an activity as part of which students wrote their strengths on pieces of paper and displayed them on a board.

“This activity helps you realise that if you focus on your strengths rather than weaknesses, you will see how many things you are good at,” she told the students.

“Competition is a part of life, but the ultimate endeavour should be to recognise our strengths and weaknesses and challenge ourselves,” she said.

Throwing light on her mental health journey, Padukone said she started feeling free and light when she started talking about her feelings. “Expressing helps while dealing with exams too. Focus on things that are in your control. Talke to your parents or someone you trust when you feel stressed,” she said.

Stressing the importance of not being afraid of failure and enjoying what you like to do, Padukone shared a trick with students. “It is called 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Five things you can see around you, four things you can touch, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, one thing you can taste. They bring you back in the moment,” she said.
