Raipur: To tackle fake and irregular qualifications, the Chhattisgarh government has launched a first‑of‑its‑kind portal enabling verification of degrees issued by private universities.
The platform — cgpurc.cgstate.gov.in — developed by the Chhattisgarh Private Universities Regulatory Commission (CGPURC), was inaugurated by Governor Ramen Deka at Lok Bhavan. It hosts digital records of all 21 private universities, tracking a student’s journey from admission to degree issuance.
The portal flags anomalies such as degrees without admission records or backdated entries, while also offering details on course recognition, fees, officials, committees, and PhD guides.
Information on university officials, committees and their members, PhD research guides are also available at a fingertip.
Employers can now instantly verify academic credentials without contacting universities individually. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the initiative will “strengthen transparency and accountability in higher education”.
