Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to allow successful students from equivalent school boards in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Gujarat to take admission in Class XI in the state.
The decision to allow other states’ students to take admission here could result in high cut-off marks for the renowned institutes. The officials though said that it is a normal process and no student from Odisha will face any problem regarding admission.
The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh; Andhra Pradesh Open School Society; Board of Secondary Education, Telangana, Hyderabad; Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Pune and Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board, Gandhinagar have been granted permission.
“There are several state boards that have got equivalency status from the BSE, Odisha and every year students passing out from other states take admission in Odisha colleges. There is a committee of the board that issues equivalency status to other state boards based on various factors,” BSE president Ramashis Hazra was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
