Jaipur: The Supreme Court on Monday allowed private unaided CBSE schools to collect the entire tuition fee in six equal monthly instalments.
A bench of the apex court stayed a Rajasthan High Court judgment, which allowed private CBSE schools to collect only 70% tuition fee, and held that the school managements will be entitled to collect fees as notified for the academic year 2019-20 in six instalments from March 5, 2021, livelaw.in reported.
The Court, however, imposed certain conditions. Schools can’t debar students, withhold exam results or prevent them from appearing in Class X or XII exams for non-payment of fees and instalments – provided the parents give an undertaking that arrears will be paid later.
The Court also made it clear that this is an interim arrangement, till the final order is passed on completion of the hearing.
