Teachers, Students Protest Land Encroachment In University Of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The teachers and students of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) organised a walk on the campus protesting the encroachment of varsity land on Friday.

The protest was organised by a Joint Action Committee consisting of faculty, students and non-teaching staff.

The participants were the University of Hyderabad Teachers Association (UHTA), the Non-Teaching Association, UoH, the Students Union and the Dalit Students Union.

The protestors raised concerns over land grabbers who were attempting to encroach upon the varsity land by demolishing the compound walls and laying roads, reported news agency IANS.

According to the protesters, an attempt was made on January 9 by bringing down a 100-foot compound wall using earth-movers.

The march was organised from the Administration Block to the encroached land site. They shouted slogans of ‘save university land’, ‘save not sale’ and ‘save university save education’ and carried placards.
