Hyderabad: Telangana police have arrested five individuals and detained a minor in connection with the alleged leak of the Standard 10 (SSC) Telugu question paper in Nalgonda district.
Among those held are a private school teacher and a photocopy shop owner, Nalgonda Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) K Shivram Reddy stated on Tuesday, March 25.
On March 21, a minor boy allegedly climbed the wall of a government-run girls’ residential school in Nakrekal, an SSC exam centre, and took a photo of the Telugu question paper from a girl inside the hall. The girl then sent the image via mobile phone and was later debarred from the exam.
The leaked question paper was circulated on social media, and a private tutor reportedly prepared answers, which were photocopied and distributed by the accused.
They attempted to pass answer slips to students but fled upon spotting the police. Authorities believe the scheme aimed to help relatives and friends’ children score higher marks.
Five individuals were arrested and sent to judicial custody on March 23, while six others remain under investigation.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Telangana State Public Examinations (Prevention of Malpractices and Unfair Means) Act, 1997. The SSC board exams in Telangana began on March 21.
