Telangana Students To Be Awarded Marks Instead Of Grades In SSC Exams
The awarding of 100% marks to external assessment will be implemented from 2025-26, says an order
HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has decided to replace the method of grading with awarding marks for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.
“The awarding of 100% marks to external assessment will be implemented from 2025-26 and awarding 80% marks to external assessment and 20% to internal assessment will continue for academic year 2024-25 only. Awarding marks system in SSC public examination dispensing the existing grading system will be from the academic year 2024-25,” an order issued by the Telangana government said on November 29, 2024.
The decision was taken as per a government order issued by Principal Secretary (Education) Burra Venkatesham.
This modifies an earlier order that accorded permission to Director, School Education, “to follow the new pattern for SSC Public Examinations by awarding marks system, duly dispensing the existing grading system and also awarding of 100% marks to external assessment without any marks for internal assessments”.
“After careful examination of the matter reported by the School Education director, permission is accorded to director to follow the new pattern of SSC Public Exams by awarding marks system, duly dispensing the existing grading system and also awarding 100 per cent marks to external assessments without any marks for internal assessments from the academic year 2024-25,” a memo read.
School Education director EV Narasimha Reddy was directed to take further necessary action in the matter.
