This Medical College Installs Machine Worth Crores To Test Kids’ Sero-Survey Samples

Indore: The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC) here has installed a machine for performing antibody tests through superior kits in its virology laboratory.

Currently, the medical college performs antibody tests in its blood bank using a basic testing kit. The machine weighing 300 kg and worth crores was installed in the virology laboratory of the medical college on Saturday. This was done via a memorandum of understanding with a private player.

According to MGMMC Dean Dr Sanjay Dixit, now the college will not need to send samples to the National Centre for Disease Control for testing. “The installation of the machine is going on and would be completed by late night. On Sunday the calibration of the machine will be carried out and post this the testing of samples of kids collected under sero-survey will begin,” Dr Dixit was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Dr Dixit said that the testing of samples will be done next week.

Around 2003 samples of kids aged below the age of 18 were collected by the college authorities from 25 wards of the district under sero-survey to know the prevalence of COVID-19 infection in them.
