Ahmedabad: A visually impaired teacher in Gujarat’s Dahod district is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that education reaches every doorstep of the district.
Meet Khagela primary school teacher Hetal Kumar Kothari, who has been imparting offline education to the students when online education is out of reach for several rural area students thanks to internet connectivity issues and lack of access to devices.
Kothari makes it a point to reach every nook and corner of the village carrying chalk-board-duster to impart education. He converts open spaces into small classrooms for students.
The teacher sets out in the morning accompanied by a friend who is also a teacher. Kothari is currently teaching students of Class III.
“At present, we are also teaching students by going online with offline education. All protocols, including corona masks and sanitisers, are followed for offline Education,” Kothari was quoted as saying by News18.
Kothari, an MSc and BEd, lost his sight in an accident when he was 24 and worked in a Chemical Company at Ankleshwar. After completing a physiotherapy course in Ahmedabad, he started practising in Dahod.
Out of sheer luck, Kothari landed a job as a primary teacher and joined the education sector. Since then, he has been teaching at Khangela Primary School for 22 long years.
