Bhubaneswar: Dr Sanjeev K Sahoo and Dr Amaresh C Panda have done Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar, proud as they have been listed among the top 2% global scientists.
The global list, recently released by Stanford University, comprises the most-cited scientists across various disciplines involving 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields. The list — based on number of citations, H -Index, co-authorship and number of publications — includes nearly 1,500 scientists, doctors and engineers from India.
Dr Sahoo, a senior scientist, has been with ILS since 2005. He is a well-known expert in the field of Nanotechnology-based drug delivery system in cancer with over 100 peer-reviewed research papers. He has 2 US, 2 EU and 3 Indian patents on Nanotechnology based targeted drug delivery.
One of the patented technologies developed by Dr Sahoo has been transferred to a pharmaceutical company for commercialisation.
Dr Panda joined ILS in 2017 after completing post-doctoral work in USA. His is involved in molecular biology research for understanding the RNA-mediated gene regulation, particularly governing beta cell physiology in diabetes and role of circular RNA in muscle differentiation.
Dr Panda has more than 45 publications in international journals.
ILS Director Dr Ajay Parida said it was extremely gratifying to see two scientists of ILS being recognised globally, and hoped this will encourage them and other scientists of the institute to contribute more in the coming days.
