UGC Asks Varsities, Colleges To Include Content On Women Safety In Syllabus
New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recommended the affiliated colleges and universities to draft in content related to women’s safety, besides gender sensitisation in their syllabi.
The initiative is aimed at removing the stereotypes or negative mindsets about women.
The UGC has directed the institutes to incorporate more content on leadership, sacrifice and the role played by women in various walks of life. The higher education regulator has even proposed online lectures and seminars on ‘women safety’.
The initiative was launched following the Union education ministry’s letter to the UGC about a report titled ‘Atrocities On Crimes Against Women And Children’ by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs.
