New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued instructions to all varsities and colleges to observe the World Environment Day 2021 online on Saturday, June 5.
The commission stressed the importance of sustainable development and taking care of the environment.
“The ongoing battle with COVID-19 pandemic underlines the need to identify, devise and adopt sustainable development models which foster greater care for the environment towards the creation of healthier and happier communities,” UGC said via a letter.
The higher education regulatory body suggested holding various programmes including quizzes, essay writing competitions and webinars on the theme of UN Decade.
The Commission has also formulated a framework for eco-friendly and sustainable campus development in higher educational institutions (HEI).
