UGC Directs Universities Not To Conduct Offline Exams In May

New Delhi: All the universities have been directed not to conduct offline exams in the month of May due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has allowed universities to organise online exams.

In a letter, the UGC mentioned to all universities and colleges that during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of everyone are most important, India Today reported.

UGC has allowed the universities and colleges to conduct online exams observing all guidelines issued by the Central Government, state governments, the Education Ministry and the UGC.

“Keeping in view the current scenario of Covid-19, it is requested that Higher Education Institutions may keep the offline examinations in abeyance during May to avoid physical gathering at the campuses and also provide much-needed relief to students, faculty, and staff,” India Today reported quoting UGC

“However, for the conduct of online examinations, HEIs may decide suitably after accessing local conditions,” it added.
