New Delhi: The Centre has announced a 24 per cent hike in Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) for SC and OBC research scholars. It has announced a 25 per cent hike in the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) for them. A matching hike in the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students have also been announced in both the categories.
According to a notification issued by UGC on November 7, the hike comes into retrospective effect from January 1, 2019.

The National Fellowship was launched by the government in 2005 as the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship to increase opportunities for SC students pursuing higher education degrees like MPhil and PhD.
