UGC, Himachal Pradesh University Sign Pact On Technology, Education
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) and the Consortium for Higher Education (CEC) — an inter-university centre of UGC — signed an agreement for undertaking several activities for tackling the needs of higher education using technology. The deal is aimed at improving the use of technology for accessibility of educational content to both under-graduate and post-graduate students.
The MoU was signed by HPU Vice-Chancellor Sikander Kumar and Director, CEC, Prof JB Nadda and Chief Administrative Officer Navin Soi.
The initiative would help in the establishment of a media centre, the use of communication tools and equipment, generation of online courses and a digital lounge, said the Dean, Planning and Teacher’s Matters, Prof Arvind Kumar Bhatt.
Through a short film presentation, the Director of CEC highlighted the growing importance of online teaching worldwide, during the time of a pandemic. Apart from financial strengthening of the institution, the university along with the CEC could benefit from this opportunity by using various online platforms like Swayam Prabha, an initiative of the HRD Ministry, to provide 32 high-quality educational channels through direct to home and MOOCs.
