UPSC Invites Applications For 45 Lateral Entry Posts Across Ministries; Know Eligibility Criteria

Bengaluru:As part of facilitating lateral entry into central government jobs, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications from private sector employees for lateral recruitment of 45 positions of Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, and Director in 24 central ministries.

According to a notification, the posts announced by the UPSC include 10 Joint Secretary positions and 35 Director/Deputy Secretary positions.

The applications invited for the Joint Secretary positions include two posts in the Finance Ministry, one post each in the Home Ministry and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, among others, the advertisement showed.

This lateral entry for positions like Director/Deputy Secretary also includes eight posts in the Agriculture ministry, two posts in the Education ministry, and one post each in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Civil Aviation ministry, among others.

Eligibility for applying for these jobs:

• The minimum experience required for the Joint Secretary level posts is 15 years, while that for Director level posts is 10 years and for Deputy Secretary level posts is seven years, respectively.
• The age limit for the Joint Secretary level posts is between 40 and 55 years, while that of Director level posts is 35 and 45 years and for Deputy Secretary level posts is 32 and 40 years, respectively.
• The period of contract/ deputation would be three years extendable up to a maximum of five years, depending upon performance and requirement.
• Officers who are currently working for any state government, people working at comparable levels in Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs), autonomous bodies, statutory organisations, universities, research institutes, and people working at comparable levels in private sector companies, consultancy organisations and international or multinational organisations are eligible to apply for the positions.
• Central Government employees are not eligible to apply for these posts.
