NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced that the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination 2026 notification release has been postponed. Originally slated to be released on January 14, 2026, the detailed recruitment notices will now be announced at a later date.

In an official release on its website, UPSC stated that announcement has been postponed due to administrative reasons.

“The Notification of Civil Services Examination, 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026, scheduled to be notified on 14.01.2026, has now been postponed due to administrative reasons and the same will be notified in due course,” the official notification said.

The statement did not elaborate on the exact nature of the administrative issues that led to the delay. However, the UPSC noted that the notification will be released ‘in due course’ once the notice and other formalities are finalised at the commission’s end.

Although uncommon such delays can occur due to internal administrative clearances, finalisation of vacancies, or updates to the application portal.

According to the UPSC’s previously published Exam Calendar 2026, the Preliminary examination for CSE 2026 was tentatively scheduled for May 24  to May 31, while online applications expected to open soon after the notification announcement.

The postponement means that aspirants will now have to wait for UPSC to announce updated dates for the notification release and subsequent application window.
