Uttar Pradesh Postpones Board Exam Scheduled For February 24 In Prayagraj Due To Maha Kumbh

The exams will be now held on March 9, 2025; the decision was taken to avoid overcrowding and ensure smooth conduct of both events

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Board examination scheduled for on February 24 in Prayagraj has been postponed by the State government due to the huge rush in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela.

The exams will be now held on March 9, 2025.

The decision was taken to avoid overcrowding and ensure smooth conduct of both events.”57 crore people have taken a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh. To avoid any inconvenience to the event or the examinations, we have rescheduled the February 24 examination in Prayagraj,” UP Minister of Secondary Education, Gulab Devi said.

Tight security measures have been in pace to curb malpractice during the examinations. Officials who fails in their job would be punishable with a maximum of seven years in jail and monetary fines. Those making an attempt to intimidate examination authorities would be punishable with 10 years in jail and a a Rs. 10 lakh fine, she said.

According to the updated UP Board date sheet 2025, the postponed exams include

Class 10: Hindi and Healthcare papers

Class 12: Military Science and Hindi papers

Initially, these exams were planned to be conducted in two shifts—8:30 am to 11:45 am  and 2 pm to 5:15 pm.

More than 54 lakh students have registered for the Class 10 and 12 UP board exams, scheduled to start from February 24.

Among the aspirants, about 27.32 lakh students will be taking Class 10 exams, and 27.05 lakh students will take Class 12 exams. The total number of examination centres opened in the state is 8,140, and a control room at the state level has been opened for monitoring the exams on 54 computers.

The UP Board 2025 exams will be conducted between February 24 and March 12.
