Vital Tips To Prepare For Class X & XII Board Exams In Stressful COVID Times

Cuttack: Board examinations are vital stepping stones for a student as good grades go a long way in ensuring success in future endeavors.

However, with the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the closure of schools from the last week of March, students are reeling under stress due to lack of classroom teaching as they try to adapt to online learning.

Here are a few tips that can help in preparing for exams during these extraordinary times:

1. Fix realistic targets every day: Due to the vast syllabus, it would be counterproductive to cram everything simultaneously. It’s better to identify a few topics to study daily and maintain a consistent schedule. That way, most topics can be covered thoroughly.

2. Identify and cover important topics: Students should initially identify the most important topics in the syllabus and get a thorough understanding of those to simplify their constituent topics. That will help in getting through the syllabus quicker.

3. Ensure a conducive study environment: For the effective study, ensure that the study area is free from distractions like unnecessary noise. Also, avoid wasting time going online by keeping electronic gadgets away.

4. Identify common errors and solve sample papers: Solving previous years’ sample papers is a tried and tested method to perform well in board exams, but it is also important to take note of common mistakes committed so as to avoid repeating them on the big day.

5. Maintain a healthy diet and sleep schedule: Students should take ample breaks between studying, eat a proper and healthy diet, and get at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep for maximum efficiency, and prevent burnout.

6. Be physically active and seek support if needed: Long hours of study should be balanced with physical activities like sports and meditation. Given the unfamiliar situation, students can seek an outlet to de-stress by talking to parents and friends for emotional support.
