VP Presents ‘DHRUV’ Batches To Students Of PM Innovation Programme
New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday awarded batches to 60 students who have been selected from various streams for the DHRUV programme launched this month.
The Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme- ‘DHRUV seeks to encourage talented school students to work on innovative ideas.
The programme will act as a turning point in the lives of extraordinarily talented students by acting as a platform for them to explore their talents and achieve excellence in their specific areas of interest, the vice president said.
According to a government statement, Minister of Human Resource and Development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said the programme has focussed on identifying and nurturing talents in areas of science and performing arts.
The students were selected from class IX to XII, and came from both government and private schools.
The batches were awarded on the final day on Wednesday after the students went through a 14-day long exercise to showcase their ideas through project works.
Salient features of the DHRUV programme:
The programme is called DHRUV (after the pole star) and every student to be called ‘DHRUV TARA’.
It will cover two areas i.e. Science and Performing Arts.
There will be 60 students in all, 30 from each area.
The students will be broadly from classes 9 to 12, from all schools including government and private.
The programme will be expanded gradually to other fields like creative writing etc.
Centre of excellence will be set up across the country and mentoring and nurturing the students.
