World Bank Approves $255.5 Million Loan To Improve Technical Education In India’s Govt-Run Institutions

New Delhi: The World Bank has approved a $255.5 million loan to be used for enhancing the quality of technical education in government-run institutions across India.

The funding will support around 275 selected government-run technical institutions during the next five years, benefiting more than 350,000 students annually.

“World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors have approved a $255.5 million loan to help India improve the quality of its technical education and provide more career opportunities to students, a World Bank statement said, adding that this investment underscores the international financial institution’s commitment to supporting educational development in India.

The Multidisciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education Project will focus on improving student skills and employability through various measures.

The emphasis will be on enhanced research capabilities, entrepreneurship and innovation. It also aims to improve the governance of technical institutions.

Students will gain access to upgraded curricula that include emerging technologies in communication and climate resilience.

The project will also facilitate improved internship and placement services, providing students with networking opportunities within professional associations.
