FLOTUS Melania Trump Attends ‘Happiness Class’ in Delhi School

New Delhi: US First Lady, Melania Trump visited the Sarvodaya Co-Ed Senior Secondary School a government school in south Delhi to attend a session of the ‘happiness class’, which is a compulsory part of the curriculum in Delhi government schools.

Melania Trump was greeted by students who garlanded her and put a ‘teeka’ on her forehead. She sat near a blackboard, while teachers read out some lines from a playbook to the children. She also interacted with students while attending the happiness class.

“We are performing Rajasthani folk and Giddha, which is a Punjabi dance. We have been preparing for this for the last few days,” a student said, reports ndtv.com.

Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, just hours before the US first lady was to visit a Delhi government school, twitted a welcome post.

“FLOTUS will attend happiness class in our school today. Great day for our teachers, students and Delhiites. For centuries, India has taught spirituality to the world. Am happy that she will take back the msg of happiness from our school,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Launched in 2018, the AAP government’s brainchild “happiness class” is a 45-minute break during which an activity based curriculum is followed, such as meditation and mental excercises.
