Masters In Dental Surgery Aspirants File Online Petition; Know Why
New Delhi: The students started an online petition after 30,000 of them cleared the all-India entrance examination for entry to Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS) courses, but the admission process is yet to begin.
“Every time we have written to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), we’ve received the same response that MDS admissions are conducted together with post-graduate medical and diploma candidates, and until the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for PG candidates is not conducted, we have no option but to wait,” one of the aspirants wishing to remain anonymous was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
No new admissions to Postgraduate medical, dental and diploma courses have been done following the postponement of NEET-PG in view of the coronavirus threat. The NEET-PG is usually held in December along with NEET-MDS.
“By June, most colleges would have finished the first semester of MDS course [in normal circumstances], but here we are, waiting for the admissions to begin. Why are the authorities forcing us to waste an entire year doing nothing,” asked another student, who has been affected by the delay in the admission process.
Responding to an RTI (Right to Information) query by the students, the MCC has put the onus on the Dental Council of India.
