Two Million Awarded Skills Certificate Under PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana

New Delhi: Over two million candidates across the country have been awarded the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certificates under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

The RPL certificate makes a candidate, who has gained knowledge of skills through informal study, eligible for higher education under the National Skills Qualification Framework. The certificate also enhances the employability potential of the candidate and provide an alternative route to higher education.

It also helps the industry get a clear picture of the available skilled hands in the country.

As per the latest report of the Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry, out of the 2.78 million candidates enrolled in PMKVY, 2.70 million have been trained, 2.15 million have been assessed and 2.03 million have been given certificates.

Speaking at an event on Sunday, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Mahendra Nath Pandey said the leather industry alone has the potential to create 2 million jobs in the next five years.
