New Delhi: Allahabad University Vice-Chancellor Rattan Lal Hangloo has stepped down from his position on Wednesday.
Hangloo was facing charges of mishandling cases of sexual misconduct. In one instance, the National Commission of Women (NCW) has passed an adverse remark against him, news reports said.
“It is correct that I have resigned. The reason was that repeatedly baseless enquiries were initiated (against me). On several occasions, it was proved that there was no substance in the complaints. I did so as I was totally fed up,” he told Hindustan Times. According to the newspaper, Hangloo is planning to take legal recourse.
The NCW in a report had said that there was no system of grievance redressal mechanism in the university and complaints of sexual harassment were not probed properly.
