Kolkata: The University of Calcutta (CU) has secured the first position among the Indian universities and second among the country’s higher educational institutions, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2021.
According to CU vice-chancellor Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee, this success and international recognition should be seen as a result of the sustained efforts of the brilliant members of faculty, dedicated researchers, sincere non-teaching colleagues as well as the students, reported ABP Education.
A total of 14 Indian universities have been placed in ARWU 2021, which is also known as the Shanghai Ranking. The list was released on Sunday, August 15.
