Guwahati: The Board of Secondary Education Assam (Seba) has cancelled the compartment examinations for class X and has asked students to take readmission in class X.
About 20,000 students registered with the state board, hoping to take the compartment exam after they could not clear the Class X board exam in the first attempt, are going to miss one academic year due to the decision.
There is no facility of compartment examinations for class XII either, who had failed the state board exam conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council.
RC Jain, Seba chairman told The Times Of India, “We have not been able to find a solution to conduct the compartment exams for students who could not pass the Class 10 state board exams this year due to the ongoing pandemic. The current environment does not allow us to hold compartment exams for them. That’s why they have been instructed to take readmission in Class 10.”
“Seba is mulling the idea on whether the compartment exam can be conducted along with the Class 10 state board exam next year. This will lessen the burden of students who were eligible to appear in the exam soon after the declaration of the Class 10 state board exam results,” Jain said.
Meanwhile, the Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) is going ahead with the compartment exams, for classes X and XII, from September 22 across the nation.
