Bengal School Reopens Defying Govt Orders; Students Life Put To Risk

Kolkata: A state-run school in West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur district on Wednesday restarted classes defying government orders.

Hatsarberia BC Roy High School in Daspur area reopened for students of class X. Upon this, the headmaster, Brindaban Ghatak, was issued a notice by the state government.

“we started the classes following all social distancing norms and standard protocols. The students are very enthusiastic about coming to the school after staying at home for all these months,” Ghatak told reporters, Times Now reported.

Ghatak also added that several parents have been requesting school authorities to reopen and then the managing committee gave the go-ahead.

The headmaster has now received a show-cause notice from the Department of School Education and needs to reply within 24 hours the reason for violating government orders.

“He has to reply within 24 hours. The district inspector has also been asked to visit the school on Thursday and file a report,” an official said.

The school also had plans to restart classes for XI and XII students following all necessary precautionary measures.
