Young Kashmiri Woman Teaches Underprivileged Girls Free Of Cost In Valley

Baramulla: Aiming to educate poor girls in Jammu and Kashmir, Baramulla woman Mahfooza Akhtar seems to be on a mission. Mahfooza is pursuing a master’s programme from Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) to fulfil her dreams of being a teacher to underprivileged girls, whose education is often neglected in these parts of the country.

“My goals are to become a teacher, so that I can teach children in rural areas, especially poor girls in this area because often parents ignore the education of their daughters. I want to teach them free of cost,” Mahfooza was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

She is also quite influenced by what Mother Teresa did for poor and underprivileged girls.

“Just like Mother Teresa, who came from England and saw the plight of poor children in India and further decided to open a school for them, I also want to do something like in my village and educate as many poor children as possible without charging anything from them,” Mahfooza goes on.

The woman has already urged the government to provide assistance to her noble cause. Mahfooza is thankful to her parents who are constant support to her endeavours.
