Varanasi: The Hydrogen Energy Centre at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has collaborated with the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC), New Delhi, to carry out research on carbon-neutral green energy and pilot project of hydrogen energy development.
Coordinator Prof ON Srivastava said that a meeting of scientists was recently held in this regard.
According to Professor Srivastava, the Union Budget for 2021-22 has announced that a National Hydrogen Energy Mission (NHM) to come up with a roadmap for using hydrogen as an energy source.
The NHM initiative will make use of one of the most abundant elements on earth (Hydrogen) for a cleaner alternative fuel option.
“There is a provision of special financial assistance for research and pilot plant,” Professor Srivastava was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.
