Bihar Govt Hikes Teachers’ Salaries By 15% Ahead Of Elections

Patna: With Bihar Assembly Elections round the corner, the Nitish Kumar government announced a 15 per cent basic salary hike for the government school teachers and librarians. This will be applicable for all teachers appointed through urban civic bodies and panchayati raj institutions since 2006.

The total hike will come over to approximately 20 per cent taking in consideration the government contribution to the employee provident fund (EPF). The hike will be effective from April 1, 2021, and over 3.5 lakh teachers will be benefitted.

Announcing this in his Independence Day address, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that the cabinet also gave its green signal for the long awaited revised service conditions.

Now, there will be one-time option for teachers to choose inter-district transfer and also EPF and promotion benefits.
