Bhubaneswar: Association of Indian Universities (AIU) Secretary General Dr Ms Pankaj Mittal said at a webinar that teachers must be at the centre of fundamental reforms in education system in India.
Dr Mittal was speaking at the webinar, organized by Birla Global University, Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with AIU, New Delhi, on ‘Internal Quality Assurance in Higher Educational Institution in the context of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’.
Dr Mittal, who was the chief guest, stressed on multi-disciplinary and holistic approach in education across sciences, social sciences, arts, humanities and sports to ensure integration of all knowledge.
She added that the NEP 2020 will provide access to quality education to all students, irrespective of their social status, location and financial status.
Guest of honour Dr Ganesh A Hegde, Advisor NAAC, mentioned the relevance of accreditation of universities for ensuring dissemination of quality education among all students. To promote quality in education, every educational institution must constitute an internal quality assurance cell and ensure transparency in the system, he suggested.
Emphasizing the role of NAAC in the context of Indian higher education, Dr Hegde said all stakeholders of the institutions must try to explore and implement some of the best practices at their level for the benefit of society at large.
BGU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr PP Mathur pointed out the importance of bringing the research output of faculties to the class rooms and develop an ecosystem of integrated learning.
BGU Registrar Prof. (Dr) BK Das was of the view that NEP will instill skills in students for personal accomplishments and enlightenment in achieving economic independence.
