New Delhi: The meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister for Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank along with other officials from the education ministry, including secretaries, regarding the decision on holding the board exams is over.
According to sources, PM Modi was given a presentation on different options, including online mode of board exams.
Earlier in the week, the Ministry of Education held a meeting with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) amid calls for the cancellation of board exams.
There have been demands from different sections, including the political fraternity to cancel the board exams. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Maharashtra education minister Varsha Gaikwad requested the CBSE, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and other boards to consider cancelling/rescheduling the Board exams.
CBSE board exams 2021 are scheduled to be held from May 4. Class X CBSE board exams will continue till June 7 and Class XII till June 10. CISCE will be conducting the Class XII exams between April 8 and June 18 and the Class X exams from May 4 to June 7.
