The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all Higher Educational Institutions in the country to observe Vigilance Awareness Week 2026.
Following guidelines from the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), the week-long initiative will be held from 26 October to 1 November under the theme “Probity for Prosperity”.
In an official communication, UGC emphasised the crucial role educational institutions play in fostering ethical conduct and corruption-free governance. Vice-Chancellors of all universities and principals of affiliated colleges have been requested to spearhead awareness campaigns on their respective campuses.
The apex higher education body has encouraged faculty, staff, and students to actively participate by taking the online “Integrity Pledge” available on the CVC website. Institutions are expected to organize a variety of activities, including seminars, debates, essay competitions, and workshops, all aimed at promotion transparency and public accountability.

Furthermore, higher education institutes are required to implement preventative vigilance measures throughout the period. The UGC has mandated that universities coordinate with their affiliated units to ensure widespread compliance.
Following the conclusion of the event, institutions must compile comprehensive data on their activities and upload compliance reports onto the UGC University Activity Monitoring Portal by 30 November. Through this collective campaign, the UGC aims to instil a culture of honesty and integrity among the nation’s youth.
