New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank is all set to discuss the upcoming CBSE board exams for Classes X and XII during an interaction with teachers on December 22.
With ongoing concerns over the exams, these five issues are likely to top the minister’s agenda for the interaction.
Exam Schedule
This is the most contentious issue and the one that is being asked by all the stakeholders comprising students, parents and teachers. It is likely that Pokhriyal will make some kind of announcement on this aspect.
Gap Between Papers
As the exam dates have not been revealed as yet, students would need extra time to prepare. This will be crucial as to what the minister confirms about the exam gap, if not the date sheet. Earlier, both the CBSE and Pokhrityal had reiterated that exams will be held in such a manner that students will get more gap days without specifying that exactly.
Practical Exams
The education minister had said they will be conducted in school labs after normal classes resume. However, CBSE is yet to issue a notification in this regard. Students and parents will also be hoping that the minister will throw some light and make a definite announcement on this.
Alternative Option
The education ministers had said an alternative option will be drawn if students are unable to go to schools for practical exams. Again, there is not enough clarity whether the students will have to go to schools or if not, what will be the alternative for the same and how these will be conducted.
COVID-19 Concern
The conduct of the CBSE exams during COVID-19 times is one of the most important questions haunting students, parents and teachers alike. The government will have to ensure all necessary precautions as it had already ruled out possibility of online exams. Earlier, CBSE had made it clear that the number of examination centres will be increased to ensure social distancing and only 12 students will be seated in an exam room. However, there will be no home centre, the CBSE had said, Zee Business reported.
