New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made it clear that there will be only one level of Mathematics examination in class IX in the 2019-20 academic session.
It has come out with the notification to put to rest all speculations about the conduct of two-level of Maths exam in class IX as well.
The speculations had gained ground after CBSE had announced earlier this year that Mathematics paper in Class X board exam from 2020 onwards will be conducted in two levels.
The news triggered confusions in the campus as students began to assume that the decision will apply to class IX exams as well to help them prepare accordingly for the board exams.
As per the new rule for the Maths paper, students appearing in the board exam can opt for either of the two-level of the Maths paper. While the easier level will be known as Mathematics-basic, the existing level will be known as Mathematics-standard. Students, who opt for the basic paper would, however, not be eligible to take Mathematics in higher classes.
