The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) date sheet for Class- X and XII Board exams 2020, released on December 17, has not gone down well with a section of students and parents.
The unhappy lot took to Twitter after the date sheets were released, demanding changes in the schedule, citing irregularities in allotment of preparatory holidays between important exams.
Students observed that while there are too many holidays between some subjects, there are too little preparatory holidays between others. A majority of these requests are from students of the commerce stream. Many have tagged the Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal.
“4th March – Marketing, 5th March – Accountancy”
Sir? What is this? There is no gap between marketing and Accountancy!!?? How shall I revise my board syllabus of accountancy” one Harshit Tripathi has tweeted.
Some also suggested preparing a mock date sheet and posting it on social media. They recommended that CBSE give a fixed seven-days off between important subjects, the Indian Express reported.
“pls provide min 7 days break for every core subject exam. Need more time to adjust to new pattern, which has lot of 1 mark qns. Sample exam dates 20/02 Eng, 29/02 Accounts/Physics, 9/03 BST/Chemistry. 17/03 Economics/Computer etc,” tweets Anil Khadloya.
Some even demanded that discontinued subjects have found mention in the time table.
“Multimedia and Web Technology (067) paper is on Feb 15, 2020 while this subject was discontinued by CBSE two years back”, writes Sunil Nehra on his twitter account @sunilknehra.
The Board is yet to react to any of these demands. CBSE, however, informed that this academic year, over 30,000 combination subjects have been opted for by students from both class 10 and 12 students.
The Board also stated that it has taken care that “students get sufficient time between the examination of main subjects” along with “Delhi University admission schedule” and “distribution of students in such a way that a large number of candidates do not reach any examination centre on any particular date” while preparing the date sheet.
The CBSE, with this year’s date sheet, has broken its own record of releasing the exam dates earlier than last few years. For 2019 Board exams, the date sheet was announced on December 24, 2018.
