New Delhi: The Supreme Court (SC) of India on Thursday directed the petitioners challenging the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) decision of holding compartment exams of Class X and XII, to serve the copies of the petition to the Union of India to consider the prayer for provisional admissions to universities.
The top court said not to complicate the matter any further. Also, the Supreme Court made it clear that one can serve as the law officer to the entire Union of India and not just the states. As the advocates had only made a few states their party it would not be considered as a viable solution. The next hearing is deferred to September 14.
Vivek Tankha, senior advocate, appearing in favour of one of the petitioners, said that usually compartment examinations are conducted before the college admissions, so students can get the admissions. “The most important thing is that if we don’t get admission in colleges after the compartment exams are done, then our entire year gets wasted,” he submitted, reported India TV.
“I want my Lord’s empathy. Create some room for them to get admission. This is their first attempt. It is not their second or third attempt,” he mentioned. He prayed in front of the SC that a direction is passed to universities to give provisional admissions for students.
