CBSE Initiates ‘My Book My Friend’ Campaign To Promote Reading Habit Among Students

New Delhi: Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ launched ‘My Book My Friend’ campaign on World Book Day 2020 to promote the reading habit among students.

Initiating its drive to inculcate reading habit, CBSE has asked the schools to be a part of this campaign while students are away from institutions.

“The students may be encouraged to go beyond their textbooks and discover the joy of reading some other books of their interest available in their homes or on the internet,”  CBSE Academics Director, Joseph Emmanuel said, while interacting with the HRD minister.

“Schools may share a list of books and links from where they can be downloaded so that the students can select with ease,” he further added.

The Board aims to make students utilise their time by exploring the realm of good books. Also, “The power of books can be leveraged to combat isolation, cope with fears and anxieties at the time of social distancing whilst integrating imagination, critical thinking, language skills, focus, memory and concentration among students,” the statement read.

CBSE expects a good response from schools to further promote and support the initiative, which aims to enrich good qualities in students.
